On the whole, with good editing, and trademark James Wan techniques of building up anxiety and good usage of light, the film definitely does manage to raise the hair on your neck when needed. Entertaining, scary in parts and funny at times, LIGHTS OUT makes for a decent one time watch.

In a week with Kabali, Madaari and Star Trek Beyond at the theatres, Lights Out will probably appeal to only hardcore horror fans.

The expansionist ideology here also doesn't involve much creative ideation. 'Lights Out' as a short was great but as a full length feature, it's not as effective. Nothing much to spook you here!
